Silhouettes in Japan

Alexander Dimitrov

Project Overview

Silhouettes in Japan is a collection of short stories written by Alexander Dimitrov, a Bulgarian who spent many years living in Japan. Once again, I had the pleasure of working closely with the author to reach the final result. His writing style is deeply influenced by Haruki Murakami and, much like Murakami’s work, incorporates surreal elements.

Illustrations and Formatting

Each story begins with an original illustration. The page layout is offset to the side, evoking an Eastern visual aesthetic. These stories are not travelogues about beautiful Japan - they are an honest reflection of the complex and often contradictory reality of Japanese society.
